History

The Keystone Society of Appraising Professionals was established in 2005 by a select group of certified and licensed appraisers to provide peer review and support to professional real estate appraisers.

It is recognized that appraisers are frequently sole operators that have little or no contact with peers within their business life, relying on their own expertise and experience to make decisions that impact countless lives. As such, there is a need for peers of equal competence and integrity to provide confidential reviews and detailed discussion of appraising assignments.

The Goals of The Keystone Society of Appraising Professionals are to provide

Confidential Peer Review of Real Estate Appraisals.

Expert peer review of appraisals being challenged by regulatory agencies, and

Confidential Discussion and Assistance on difficult and unusual assignments

As the number of appraisers involved in Peer Review increase, the scope of The Keystone Society of Appraising Professionals will expand. We will continue to publish links to legislation that involve appraisers and are actively supporting increased accountability and professionalism in the appraisal profession. As such we support the Appraisers Petition, and seek to bring professionalism into appraising by supporting legislation that deals with preventing issues such as:

Withholding appraisal fees over value issues

Applying  pressure to achieve a predetermined value.

Blacklisting appraisers without notice

Blacklisting appraisers without rebuttal opportunities.
